We are Celebrating! VH recently held a fundraiser where we sold raffle tickets to raise funds for our new student-home property. We are pleased to announce that we raised $15,000, more than enough to purchase the land! Congratulation to our three winners: First Prize - Round trip airfare from Norway to Bolivia and an Alligator Safari for 2 people. Second Prize - A beautiful ring with an Opal gemstone. Third Prize - Cell phone If you missed out on this opportunity to give, not to worry, we still need to raise funds for construction. Please contact Aija or Ingvild at for more information. Thanks you one and all!
----------------------------------------------- Hogar de Niňos Valle Hermoso
Our goal at Valle Hermoso is to develop an organization with high standards! We offer a home like environment that provides love and care on an individual basis for the children. We also work to provide both formal and informal education. Our hope for most children is that they will attend and graduate from local universities before moving to live on their own. We work to instill positive Christian values and ethics that will serve these young people well as they grow up and begin to start families of their own.
With the help of our donors we are able to provide for more than just daily needs, we also work to restore a positive world view and break the cycle of poverty in these children's lives.
Valle Hermoso receives the majority of its financial support from Norway. They also receive some support from the USA and Cafe Yungas grants. Viva Bolivia partners with Valle Hermoso by providing leadership development, strategic planning, Web space and friend-raising services. Today Valle Hermoso is recognized by the Bolivian government and is an example for other social organizations serving in Bolivia.
Aija Tørre, who founded Valle Hermoso, serves as the Director of Board for Valle Hermoso. She lives in Norway and continues to offer advice and management guidance. The day-to-day operations are run by Margarita (Bolivian Director) and a staff of three other Bolivians. New Student Housing - An Opportunity to Give! As time has passed, several of our children have grown to 18 years old and we saw a real need at VH: A Student Home! At this age the youth have different needs, different study time schedules and even more important - become more independent. The families where they come from have no possibilities to support the children, not to mention to provide for higher education. To completely break the cycle of poverty we feel that we should help them with this last stage before they can be completely independent and start families of their own. We are proud to announce that we have located a property right beside VH and we are planning to build a Student Home - Valle Hermoso! At the moment we are looking for sponsors to buy this property. We have some donations, but need to raise $Us 13,000 for the purchase of the property and then will need funds to build the home. If you would like to get personally involved with Valle Hermoso or send a special gift, you can contact Aija at aijatorre@gmail.com (Norwegian, Latvian, Spanish or English) or Ingvild at ingvildtr@gmail.com (Norwegian, Spanish or English) or contact us (English and Spanish) at Viva Bolivia to learn more about their dreams and plans for the future. ------------------------------ All the photos and newsletter and the entire contents of this site are copyright © protected and all rights are reserved. Updates are written in Norwegian because this is the language of the majority of the sponsors for VH children. However, if you would like to read a particular newsletter in English, just let us know. I think you will find the pictures tell most of the story. (Some of the older newsletters have been translated to English and you will find them below). | ||||||
